This is a little program that I've been working on over the past few days designed for fast previewing of .MAP files. The end result if a fast, refined program with several rendering options which will hopefully prove a useful addition to any mapper's inventory.

but is there anyway to do a quick simulation of light?
probably not, but i thought i'd ask, cus alot of my time spent in mapping is rendering new lighting and wut not.

I do plan to add support for real time lighting and support for transparent, masked etc. entities.
I'm not altogether too sure on how Iím going to do the lighting though. There are four options really:
1) Basic OpenGL lighting which looks shitty, and has no shadows but will work on any card.
2) With the use of pixel shaders the lighting could look a lot better, but still there would be no shadows and it won't work on any card.
3) Pixel shaders using hardware accelerated occlusion culling for shadows requires a state of the art card but gets pretty close to simulating radiosity minus the bounces.
4) The only way to really simulate it would be with a ray tracer, but that is what the radiosity stage is...
I must be doing something wrong, because when I try to load a map file, from various sources, I always just get an error message in the command console saying "Error loading C:\blaw\blaw\blaw.map on line 1" or sometimes line 5.
What do I need to do to correct this. I am running Window XP, home edition, dual monitors, GForce 400 and 440 cards.
Try the new version. I think it was a problem with language conventions.
It doesn't work for me! as soon as I click open the entire program freezes!
