Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but a new source engine game came out recently. Its called Tactical Intervention.

It uses modified VPK files under the file extension .fpx.

They can be converted to VPK files by simply changing the extension and changing the first five bytes in a hex editor to 34 12 AA 55 01, but nothing is extractable, returning the error "Error writing C:\Users\Don\AppData\Local\Temp\v_m1.vvd (Error (0x00000002): Error opening file. The system cannot find the file specified.)".

So yeah, thats it.

This is a bit late, I know, but there's a certain process that needs to be followed in order for people to extract files from that game's archives. You first need to copy the .FPX files to another location on your computer - for some reason, they won't open properly if you leave them in their default location. After doing that and changing the extension on all of the .FPX files, you need to rename the data_001_fdr.VPK file to data_001_dir.VPK. After that, change the first five bytes on the data_001_dir.VPK file to what you mentioned above, and you should be able to extract all of the files from data_001_dir.VPK at your leisure.

Whenever I try to open pak01_000.vpk I get an Unhandled Exception error.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have made sure that I have Net 2.0 installed, and GCFScape has full Security privileges.

Hi can i ask for the zip archive for GCFScape v1.8.5, where is the cfg file stored? How does gcf remember the history and last opened directory? can't seem to find it in the registry nor appdata too.
